Marriage Proposal on a Yacht in Dubai

A proposal with nobody else on board

The reason people propose on a private charter rather than at a restaurant is simple: there is no audience. You book the whole yacht, so for the hours you have it, the only people aboard are the two of you and the crew. There is no neighbouring table, no waiter arriving at the wrong second, and no stranger filming over your shoulder. The yacht leaves from the Dubai Marina / Dubai Harbour area and the skyline does the rest — the Marina towers, Ain Dubai on Bluewaters, the JBR beachfront, and on a longer charter the Palm and the Burj Al Arab.

Boat Party Dubai plans and manages the whole thing, working with licensed yacht operators in that area, so the setup, the timing and the route are arranged by one team rather than improvised on the day. We are a brand of Prestige Voyage Tourism L.L.C, a tour operator licensed by Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism under licence 1573075.

Just the two of you — or a surprise party after

A proposal charter is usually booked for two. Every one of the 13 yachts takes at least twelve guests, so a yacht for two is simply a quiet yacht — and the smallest is also the least expensive, which makes a 40- to 52-foot boat the straightforward choice if you want the deck to yourselves.

The other common shape is a proposal followed by a celebration: the two of you for the first hour, then friends and family brought aboard, or a second charter the same week. Yachts in the list run up to 110 feet and 75 guests, so the "after" does not have to be a different kind of evening. Tell us which version you want in the request and we plan the schedule around it.

What it costs

Charters are priced per hour, per yacht — the number of people on board does not change the rate. The lowest in the fleet is AED 700 per hour, so a two-hour proposal charter starts at AED 1,400 (≈ €335). No VAT is added, because the company is not VAT-registered.

An anniversary or proposal is one of the few occasions where the extras genuinely matter more than the boat, so budget for those separately. Every line is itemised before you send the request, and the figure stays an estimate until the date is checked and confirmed in writing. No payment is taken on this website.

Setting the scene

The extra written for this occasion is the "Will You Marry Me?" neon sign, AED 550, set up in the saloon or on deck before you board. A Standard Balloon Setup is AED 350 on a yacht up to 52 feet and AED 550 above it; the VIP Balloon Setup is AED 700 and AED 1,100. A celebration cake, one kilogram, is AED 280, a fruit platter AED 220, a charcuterie board AED 550 and a sushi platter AED 600. Catering is pre-order only.

If you want the moment itself on camera, book it rather than hope for it: a photographer is AED 800 per hour and a videographer AED 1,050 per hour. Say in the request that the shoot is for a proposal, and the brief passed to them is to stay out of sight until it has happened.

Getting the timing right

Charters start between 09:00 and 20:00 and are back alongside by 23:00, with a minimum of 2 hours — 3 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For a proposal the timing is the whole point. Sunset in Dubai falls roughly between 17:30 and 19:15 depending on the month, so a start around 17:00 puts you offshore with the light behind the skyline at about the right moment, with time afterwards to sit down rather than turn straight back.

Two dates are priced differently: 31 December, and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend of 3–6 December 2026. On those we quote on request rather than at the standard rate.

Planning the moment with the crew

Write what you have in mind in the special requests field — where you want the sign, whether the music should change on a cue, whether someone should be filming from the upper deck, whether the ring is going in the cake or staying in a pocket. That text reaches the planning team, and we agree the sequence with the crew before departure so nobody has to improvise in front of your partner. If you need the yacht to look untouched when you board and set up only once you are under way, say so — that is a normal request.

Booking, deposit and cancellation

A request is not a booking: we check the date with the operator and confirm in writing first. A 50% deposit then secures it, with the balance due 48 hours before departure. A card payment link carries a 5% processing fee; a bank transfer costs nothing from our side.

Free cancellation or a date change up to 96 hours (4 days) before departure, refunded in full within 7 business days. Between 96 and 48 hours, 50% of the charter is charged, and food, beverages and personalised items already ordered are not refundable — which, for a proposal, usually means the neon sign and the cake. Inside 48 hours or a no-show, no refund. If the coast guard issues no sailing permit, a decision that comes by 09:00 on the day, you choose between a full refund and a free reschedule.

Proposal questions

Can the yacht be set up before we board, so it is a surprise?
Yes. That is the normal arrangement: decoration goes up before you arrive, and your partner sees it when you step aboard.
Can we keep it secret from the crew too?
The crew needs to know, because they are the ones helping it run — but they are told to stay out of the way. Nobody announces anything.
Is the yacht private?
Yes. You book the whole yacht; besides your guests, only the crew is on board.
What if it is windy that evening?
If a permit is issued but the sea is rough, the captain may keep the route to sheltered water. That is not grounds for cancellation, but it is a reason to start earlier in the day if the forecast looks unsettled. No permit at all means a full refund or a free reschedule.
Can we bring our own flowers or a ring box setup?
Tell us in the request what you want to bring. The operator confirms what is allowed on that yacht, and the captain has the final word.
How long should we book?
Two hours is enough for the moment itself. Three gives you the sunset plus time to sit with it afterwards rather than turning straight back.
